During WW2, more than six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust and to this day is it still defined as one of the most terrible and defining aspects of the Second World War. On this tour we look at some of the key aspects of the Holocaust in Poland and we see how the Polish people were affected by the German occupation of their country. Whilst in the country, we visit pay a visit to Oscar Schindler’s Factory in Krakow and we also take an in depth look at the Krakow Ghetto. We then journey to the harrowing Auschwitz Concentration Camp, where we have a guided tour of the sites many museums and exhibitions. Back in Krakow, we take a tour of the Museum of Polish Home Forces and the British Commonwealth cemetery.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to Kraków and transfer to our hotel in Kraków for four nights.

Day 2 - Kraków

We start our tour in Kraków having an in-depth look at the Kraków Ghetto seeing the ‘chairs’ memorial, the old Chemist shop and the buildings where Jewish families lived. After lunch you will visit the Oscar Schindler Factory; immortalised in the film Schindler’s List, Oscar worked tirelessly to save as many of the city’s Jews as he could. The factory site is now a museum which helps explain the war in Poland as well as the Holocaust. Then visit the site of Plaszow Concentration Camp, seeing the memorial.

Day 3 - Auschwitz

Today you travel to Auschwitz, the most notorious and deadly of the Concentration Camps in German occupied Poland. Auschwitz has become one of the enduring symbols of the horror that was the Holocaust. We have a guided visit of Auschwitz, where the workers were detained, seeing the many museum items and exhibitions, and take time to explore the vast site of Auschwitz-Birkenau where an estimated million died in the Final Solution. A moving day studying one of the most iconic locations connected to the Holocaust.

Day 4 - Museum of Polish Home Forces; British Cemetery

We begin today in Kraków and visit the museum of the Polish Home forces. We then visit the British Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery at Kraków which includes the graves of British Prisoners of War who died in POW camps in German occupied Poland. In the afternoon you have free time to explore central Kraków.

Day 5

Return transfer to Kraków Airport for your return flight to the UK.

Hotel

You will stay for four nights at 3-star Legend Hotel in the heart of the Old Townof Kraków. This new hotel, situated in an excellent location next to Wawel Hilloffers a restaurant and small fitness room. All bedrooms are furnished withmodern facilities. Due to demand, other 3-star hotels may be used such as the Hotel Wyspianski or Hotel Pod Wawelem

Please note the 25th September 2017 tour will stay for four nights in Kraków at the 4-star Hotel Grand Ascot. Ideally located in the heart of the Krakow, just 700 meters from the Market Square the hotel perfectly captures the atmosphere of the city. This new hotel has a restaurant and lobby bar and all bedrooms have modern facilities.

Please note K5PKH/2 on 23 October 2017 will stay for four nights in Kraków at the 3-star Hotel Wyspianski. The hotel enjoys an enviable location, only 500 metres from Kraków's beautiful Market Square, the city’s historical and cultural centre. Kraków Old Town, the Jewish Quarter and Wawel Castle are all within walking distance. This large hotel has a restaurant and bar and all bedrooms have T.V. and hairdryer.
