About the tour: Operation Anthropoid by Air


Tour Introduction

Operation Anthropoid was the secret mission to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, a high ranking Nazi Official with control of much of Eastern Europe and one of the leading architects of the Holocaust. A team of SOE agents were flown to Czechoslovakia in December 1941 to carry out the operation. Heydrich was fatally wounded and his death lead to terrible consequences in Czechoslovakia. Join us on our brand new 5-day tour as we fly to Prague and visit the key sites relating to the operation, including Nehvizdhy, Liddice and Petschek Palace.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to Prague and transfer to our hotel for four nights.

Day 2 - Nehvizdhy

We start the day at the Drop Zone near Nehvizdhy where the SOE members landed. We see the Drop Zone memorial and also the monument in Nehvizdhy to those who were later shot for helping the team.

We then see where Reinhard Heydrich lived and visit Karl Hermann Frank’s Villa, now a Resistance Museum.

After lunch we visit the spot where Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated, and then move into the city to see the church and crypt, and memorials where the SOE team were surrounded and killed.

Day 3 - Lidice & Petschek Palace

Today we visit Lidice, the village near Prague which was brutally purged following Heydrich’s death. We spend time visiting this important and moving WW2 site, and see the Kobyliska execution ground.

In the afternoon we go to Petschek Palace, then the Gestapo HQ, having a guided tour of the basement, and also visit the castle where Heydrich worked, and later where his body was laid out in state.

We end the day at Dablice Cemetery, where it is believed the men of the SOE team were buried and where there is now a memorial.

Day 4 - Terezin

We travel to Terezin, then known as Theresienstadt. This former Austro-Hungarian fortress town was used as a Concentration Camp by the Nazis and we spend a full day visiting the site, memorials and seeing the museums.

Day 5

Transfer to airport for your return flight to the UK.

Hotel

You will stay for four nights at the 3-star Ibis Prague Old town. The hotel is situated in an ideal location in the historical district, close to shops, bars and restaurants and the Old Town Square. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, serving light meals.

Join your tour coach at the interchange.

On most tours if you’d prefer to join your tour coach at Stop 24 services, you can park your car in the car park which is accredited by the Park Mark safer parking scheme and is monitored 24 hours a day by CCTV. Payment for the parking is made on arrival using the self-service machines.
