Tour Introduction

Join us as we journey to Jersey and visit some of the key sites that show the impact of the German occupation of the Channel Islands, during World War 2. We visit the Jersey War Tunnels, originally built as an army barracks but converted into a first aid filed bunker in 1943, the tunnel complex is now a spectacular museum. We take a tour of St Brelades Bay, see German fortifications at Corbiere and visit the Channel Islands Military Museum. We also enjoy a guided ‘Occupation Walk’ around St. Helier, were we explore the major historic sites. As as an added extra, on May departures, guests will be able to enjoy the commemorations that take place as Jersey celebrates its liberation day anniversary. September departures will experience the Battle of Britain Air display from People’s Park.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to Jersey, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a seven-night stay. Tonight begins with a welcome drink and introductory talk.

Day 2 - Jersey War Tunnels & St Brelade's Bay

We visit the Jersey War Tunnels – an enormous tunnel complex built by the Germans as an artillery barracks, but converted into a first aid field bunker as an emergency stand-by in 1943. It is now an excellent museum which tells the complete story of the Occupation through interactive displays. We have an included lunch stop at the St. Brelades Bay Hotel, a home to German soldiers during the Occupation.

This afternoon we take a tour of St. Brelades Bay with Jersey’s foremost military historian and acclaimed writer, Ian Ronayne.

Day 3 - Free Time

Day 4 - Corbiere & Channel Island Military Museum

Guided by Ian Ronayne, we spend the day visiting a number of World War II locations, some of which are not normally open to the general public. We head out to the coast for a guided tour of the Noirmont Point Command Bunker, seeing the German fortifications at Corbiere, visiting the Channel Islands Military Museum and calling at Moltke Battery at Les Landes.

Day 5 - Liberation Day (May departure) or Battle of Britain Air Display (September departure)

Join the commemorations that take place as Jersey celebrates its liberation from German occupation.

We head to the People’s Park in St. Helier, where there will be a static display of helicopters. This afternoon, enjoy the spectacular Battle of Britain Air Display which takes place over St. Aubin’s Bay with the dramatic backdrop of Elizabeth Castle.

Day 6 - La Hougue Bie

Today we meet at 0930 hours in the hotel reception. Both groups will todayvisit La Hougue Bie, the most spectacular prehistoric monument in the Channel Islands. The 40-foot mound,which is topped by a medieval chapel, houses a Neolithic passage grave built around 3,000 BC. There is an introductory film, a film showing the building of the reproduction Long House, an archeology museum and a display of artifacts from the world's largest Celtic coin discovery made in 2012 as well as a German Command Centre, now a memorial to the Island's forced workers during World War II. The coach will return to St Helier via Gorey, home to the stunning Mont Orgueil Castle(Entrance extra cost). You can choose to alight in Gorey to explore the village,harbour and castle and catch the 1 or 1A bus back to St Helier or returnto St Helier on the coach. The afternoon is spent at leisure.

Join coach at Interchange

Join your tour coach at the interchange.

On most tours if you’d prefer to join your tour coach at Stop 24 services, you can park your car in the car park which is accredited by the Park Mark safer parking scheme and is monitored 24 hours a day by CCTV. Payment for the parking is made on arrival using the self-service machines.

Excludes tours to Ireland and the U.K. and tours travelling via Brittany Ferries.

Door-to-Door service

On Battlefield tours of 7 days’ duration or more, you don’t even have to think about getting to your local joining point. Our Door-to-Door Service collects you from your home and takes you to meet your transfer vehicile, then brings you back at the end of the holiday. Door-to-Door Service is available within a 20-mile radius of one of our free joining points and is from £90 per car, return (up to 4 passengers per vehicle).
