Battle of Loos Anniversary

About the tour: Battle of Loos Anniversary

Tour Introduction

In September-October 1915, the Battle of Loos was fought in the northern French village of the same name. British troops, commanded by Sir John French, carried out an attack in the coalfields around the village that was meant to be the push that would end the war. Unfortunately for them, this operation ended in a costly defeat which resulted in the dismissal of Sir John French. The battle was not only significant due to its failure, but it also because it was the first time that large numbers of men from 'Kitchener’s Army' went into battle on the Western Front. Join us on this tour which is in the Loos area for the commemoration period.
