Kaiser’s Battle – Operation Michael

About the tour: Kaiser’s Battle – Operation Michael

Tour Introduction

On 21st March 1918, during World War 1, the Germans launched Operation Michael, or the Kaiserschlacht as it became known: the Kaiser’s Battle. German troops attacked from near Cambrai to south of St Quentin. On the centenary of this battle we visit the ground and remember events from 1918. Near St Quentin, we visit cemeteries commemorating the dead and battle sites such as Manchester Hill and Holnon Wood. For the centenary we will commemorate the events either at the major ceremony or at our own ceremony on the battlefield. Before we return home, we will also take a look at the battlefield sites on the Somme and seeing how the British and Australian troops pushed back the Germans.
